Stan State’s School of Nursing Earns Spots on Best in California, West Rankings
Stanislaus State’s School of Nursing has earned another feather in its cap with recognition as one of the top 75 nursing schools in California and the Western United States.
In its “2020 Nursing School Rankings” report released in December, Nursing Schools Almanac ranked the University’s School of Nursing No. 25 on its 75 Best Nursing Schools in California list and No. 52 of the 100 Best Nursing Schools in the West.
For its 2020 rankings, the Nursing Schools Almanac research team collected data on more than 3,000 nursing schools and campuses across the United States and evaluated each school on the following factors:
- Academic prestige and perceived value
- Breadth and depth of programs
- Student success, particularly on the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX), the nationwide examination for licensing nurses in the United States, Canada and Australia
“This ranking confirms our continuous hard work and effort to provide a quality program,” said School of Nursing Director and Professor Mary Jo Stanley. “We offer an exceptional program thanks to the outstanding efforts of our faculty, who are dedicated to the success of our students. We are not a large program compared to other nursing schools, yet we provide big outcomes.”
Stan State’s School of Nursing offers seven degree pathways including a traditional Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN); an RN-to-BSN track for local nurses with an associate degree; an online RN-to-BSN program that’s accessible 24 hours a day, seven days a week; a Master of Science in Nursing program; and a Master of Science in Nursing degree with a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) concentration.
Nursing students also participate in a simulation program that’s integrated into the curriculum and provides students with opportunities for experiential learning. The almanac also noted Stan State prelicensure BSN graduates achieve a 96 percent pass rate on the NCLEX.
