Program Eligibility

Overview
  • Complete a minimum of 60 transferable semester or 90 quarter untis
  • Minimum GPA of 2.0
  • Completion of 60 units of required lower division General Education courses with a grade point average of 2.0 or better. These units must include the following four courses with a grade of C- or better:
    • (A1) Oral Communication/Speech
    • (A2) Written English Composition
    • (A3) Critical Thinking/Logic
    • ​(B4) Math/Quantitative Reasoning (which is above the level of intermediate algebra)
  • Completion of at least 12 lower division units of Criminal Justice prerequisites (see below for courses and their equivalents):

CJ 2250 Introduction to Criminal Justice, 3 units

  • (SJDC) course equivalent: AJ 21 Criminal Justice in Society
  • (MJC) course equivalent: ADJU 201 Intro to Administration of Justice
  • (Merced College) course equivalent: CRIM 2 Introduction to Criminal Justice

CJ 2270 Criminal Investigation, 3 units

  • (SJDC) course equivalent: AJ 25 Criminal Investigation
  • (MJC) course equivalent: ADJU 212 Criminal Investigation
  • (Merced College) course equivalent: CRIM 8 Introduction to Investigation

CJ 2280 Criminal Law, 3 units

  • (SJDC) course equivalent: AJ 22 Concepts of Criminal Law
  • (MJC) course equivalent: ADJU 203 Concepts of Criminal Law
  • (Merced College) course equivalent: CRIM 4 Criminal Law​

CJ 2450 Criminal Judicial Process, 3 units

  • (SJDC) course equivalent: AJ 23 Principles and Procedures of the Justice System
  • (MJC) course equivalent: ADJU 202 Principles and Procedures of the Justice System
  • (Merced College) course equivalent: CRIM 3 Criminal Procedures

 *Students who have fewer than 70 lower division transferable units will have to take additional courses.
